William Henry Margetson (1861-1940) The Sea Hath Its Pearls, 1897

Margetson painted beautiful girls, typically alone and large on the canvas, and typically with short hair and hats when they are modern subjects. He also did some allegorical classical works such as The Stranger. He studied at the Royal Academy, exhibiting there from 1885.
